It’s a real work (pain ?) to add keywords to images, and being lazy by essence, it took me a while to make it part of my import process.

Initially, I added general information as keywords (location, people names, type of event, etc…).

However, as my photo library was growing, I realized I was often looking for images that could be grouped together into series. So I started to use keywords to actually describe the image in a searchable manner , in particular its remarkable attributes/items (main or dominant color, shapes, low or high key, sea, cloud, sky, snow, season, etc…

It’s still a work in progress (and it will always be I think), but it allows to explore your own work in a different manner

Being at the right place at the right time.

That was my precise feeling as the light was firing up the narrow canyon of Lower Antelope.

Being at the back of the group, I was able to save a few seconds alone to try to capture a little part of the magic.

The Snow cone

As there was no direct flight from Chicago, we stopped a few hours at Zurich airport. Weather was pretty bad, the snowstorm was running for hours.

The bus stopped a few meters from the boarding stairs.

Plane was icy, tarmac was snowy, everything was white.

Well, almost everything…

Dead White Wood

Most of the time, tree stumps are nothing but dead…But sometimes, curves, texture and shapes play with the light to produce an organic feeling.

And sometimes, simple straight lines can even push imagination one step further…

Of course, the first image has to be in black & white, because it’s how the world appears through the viewfinder.

With shades of grey.

With little details, and a sense of depth.

And abstract.

And because photography is about contrast, the second image, still not in color, has to be related but different. Flat, sharp, with black, white and dark gray.
